ENGEOCOM Tunnelling Machinery

The tunnelling mechanized complex (TMC) called “Sofia” has completed the left tunneling distillation tunnel from “Shelepiha” metro station to the connecting branch of the Third interchange circuit and Kalinin-Solntsevo line. This project is initiated by the Department of Construction of Moscow as the state customer on-site. The contractor/company hired to do this work is JSC Combine ENGEOCOM.

Shield “Sofia” has covered an entire distance of 768 meters. The lines are running under Shmitovsky, an industrial area near the 1st Silica travel, and a dense residential development. Drifters have been working in the complex hydrogeological conditions, up to a maximum depth of 40 meters.

After completing the tunneling, the complex has gone into the excavation chamber congresses of the Third interchange circuit and Kalinin-Solntsevo line as next in the line for progress. While the second ring of the Moscow Metro will be built, the “Business Center” – “Peter Park” site will temporarily join with the Kalinin-Solntsevo line. Thus, temporarily, the train will go from “Rasskazovka” station to the “Petrovsky Park.”

Next TMC will be moved to the opposite end of the pit, where the construction will begin toward Kalinin-Solntsevo line. Usually after the completion of the shield, it is disassembled into parts, maintenance is carried out on the peices, and they are transported to the new launch site and collected again. On average, it takes 1.5 months to complete these steps. Metrostroiteley of Association ENGEOCOM says that they “plan to prepare Sophia for sinking down” in a new record time – just 15 days. For this purpose, a unique method of moving the shield whole will be used. Complex manoeuvres with a hand pallet truck are required to move the unit from one end of the excavation chamber to the other entirely without dismantling.

They are going to put a monolithic slab in the bottom of the shaft pit and install steel plates, with rails on which the “Sofia” will move, using a jacking system to install it onto the welded rails, starting from specially made stops and pulling it on the hand cart. So says Konstantin Tsallagov, head of the mechanization construction of Association ENGEOCOM. According to him, during the pulling, there will be mechanics on board with the “Sofia” to replace the cutting tools and to conduct the thorough inspection of all the components and assemblies that are usually inspected while the unit is disassembled for travel. When it is moving to the other end of the Metro interchange to begin it’s new work, the “skiing” movement of the Sofia will be cut off, and it will not operate until it has been inspected while in transit to the new construction site.

Application of this new experimental method allows Metrostroiteley reduce construction time and save money on the installation and dismantling of the complex, while still remaining safe for the workers to use in the tunneling process. Specialists construction workers with Association ENGEOCOM are “already used dragging to move the complex mechanics of “Sofia” and “Victoria” through station “Shelepiha.”

JSC Business Combinations ENGEOCOM acts as official contractor of the construction site of the Third interchange circuit of the Moscow Metro station from Business Center to Lower Maslovka.The line includes six stations: 5 – newly built (Lower Maslovka, Peter Park, Khodynka, Khoroshevskaya, and Shelepiha) and 1 being finished (Downtown). Construction site length is 12.76 km. The construction of these stations will be the beginning of formation of a new subway interchange circuit, which will provide a transplant from one branch to another without using the central congested hubs.

 

New Year, New Skyline in Moscow.

Of the 9 tallest skyscrapers due to be completed in the next 12 months worldwide, Russia’s Vostok Tower is due to up the ante of Europe’s tallest building, usurping the title from the nearby Mercury City Tower and the OKO building. The Federation Tower is a large complex of skyscrapers (some completed, some still in progress) built on the 13th lot of the Moscow International Business Center. Ground was broken in 2003, but due to extenuating circumstances and The Federation Tower silhouettefinancing, construction stopped. Construction began again in 2011, and the last and tallest tower, The Vostok Tower is due to be completed in 2016.

 

The building features contain offices in addition to hotel suites and apartment suites, and the plans include “sky-bridges” between the towers that will also house eateries and cafes. There will also be the highest digital clock in the world on the outside of the building. The Federation Tower complex has been used by thrill-seeking climbers and base jumpers for adventure sports. There have been several TV shows, movies, and adverts that have used the building as a location for shooting. The designs have undergone some significant changes from the initiation of construction. According to the builder of the tower it uses concrete grade B90 for its construction, which  they say is twice as strong as regular concrete and will allow the skyscraper to withstand a direct hit of an aircraft. It will be 373-metres high, and is designed as a collaboration between Peter Schweger of Schweger Associated Architects and Sergei Tchoban of NPS Tchoban Voss.

1. Ping An Finance Center, China, by Kohn Pedersen Fox will take the title of World’s Tallest Building from One World Trade Center in New York, NY.

2. Goldin Finance 117, China, by P&T Group is set to complete this year in Tianjin, and replaced the planned fin-shape with a faceted glass facade.

3. Lotte World Tower, Korea, by Kohn Pedersen Fox hit a hiccup around sinkholes appeared around the base, but is on track for completion in 2016.

4. CTF Finance Center, China, by Kohn Pedersen Fox will overlook the Pearl River.

5. Wuhan Center Tower, China, by ECADI is designed with curved walls which are meant to evoke the imagery of a ship’s sails.

6. Marina 101, UAE, by National Engineering Bureau will hold the Middle East’s first Hard Rock Hotel.

7. Eton Place Dalian Tower 1, China, by NBBJ is four years overdue for completion.

The eighth place is the aforementioned Vostok Tower, Russia, by NPS Tchoban Voss and Schweger Associated Architects

9. Dalian International Trade Center, China, by Dalian Architectural Design & Research Institute has a rectilinear glass form with chamfered corners.

New Moscow Metro Expected In 2016

Ernest Rudyak - EngeocomDeputies and General Directors of firms such as “Association” and “ENGEOCOM” visited the site of the project and discussed in great length the progress that has been achieved thus far. The building of the station, dubbed “Khoroshevskaya”, is at full swing and it is expected to be completed late in 2016.

As mentioned above, Khoroshevskaya is part of a much bigger project called the Third interchange circuit, which includes the construction of other railroad and underground stations such as “Business Center”, “Shelepiha”, “Khodynka” and “Peter Park.”

The urgency of building these transportation routes was slowed down due to the preparatory process, which took almost two years, as well as the grand scale of the project. Other setbacks included the change in building methods, which varied from closed to open in order to find the best possible way save money and finish faster. Despite these minor complications throughout the first few stages of construction, General Director for ENGEOCOM stated that close to 3.5 million rubles were saved because of these efforts. 

The difficult geological conditions present at the site of Khoroshevskaya have forced the workers to use a unique type of soil for the surface, which in turn is going to increase the rate of perforation.
